Highland Wolf By Lynsay Sands Review

New York Times Bestselling Author Lynsay Sands delivers another sexy historical romance set in the wilds of the Highlands

In all her daydreams about her wedding day, Lady Claray MacFarlane never once imagined being dragged to the altar by her greedy uncle and forced to marry a man she didn't know. But that's what happened, or would have, had a Highland warrior not snatched her up at the last minute and ridden off with her in his arms...

They call him the Wolf. The mercenary's courage and prowess in battle are known throughout the Highlands, and with his handsome face and black-as-sin hair, he was as intelligent and deadly as the wolf he was named for...

But the Wolf is also Claray's betrothed. Thought to have been killed as a child, he'd been in hiding all these years. Now, he's determined to earn enough coin to rebuild his home, reclaim his birthright, and honor his marriage contract to Claray. For he's fallen for the tender-hearted lass...and he will do anything to protect her and their future together.

My Review:

From my understanding this is part of a series. I have not read the rest of this series. I had no trouble with jumping in with this book. There was no feeling of being lost or confused of what was going on. The book was enjoyable and explained much with out going in info dump area. It was a nice flow. Once I was a few pages in and knew who was who and what was what, the story picked up. There was some nail biting moments for sure. A few unanswered questions about the ending. I was hoping for a sweet epilogue, but sadly it wasn’t there. Maybe another installment for this couple, as I fear their journey is just begun. Overall I really enjoyed this read and can’t wait to read more.

The Darkest Assassin by Gena Showalter Review   5 stars

Oh man! This book needs about a thousand more pages, I was not ready for it to be done. I love the chemistry between Bjorn and Fox. The battle is heating up, and so much happens. I cannot wait for Williams book. And Xerxes! Sigh. I won’t give you a play by play of events, as I don’t want to ruin the book, but let’s just say make time to read from start to finish. You will not want to put this one down. We got to see a glimpse of Williams lady love when Bjorn was avenging certain events. Oh my I think that was one of my fav scenes. The other was the first time Bjorn and Fox fought. Priceless. This is one book not to skip in the Lords of the Underworld series. Five star reading all the way.

Dragan By Plum Pascal  4stars

I really like this series, however I didnt like the ending to this one. It was too much of a cliffhanger. It took a bit for me to be sucked into the book, as it started out a bit slow, but it got moving right along. Most of the characters are pretty unique, but i do say Flumph reminds me too much of Bill Angel. His speaking and mannerism is the exact same. I am hoping that the character grows past this. Nothing wrong with the character Bill Angel, but I want a fresh new personality. I really enjoyed this read, and the cliffhanger is insane. Please hurry with book #3. I just got to know the fates that are in question.

Some like it plaid by Angela Quarels 4.5 stars

Very interesting. It’s like a rom com version of outlander. Sort of. The few differences are he travels thru time to pick a wife. Oh that was uniquely fun to read. Then he picks a bride from a Craigslist’s ad. Ashley should have read the fine print. That’s what happens when a hunky scot distracts you. I really think Connall was a great character. He had personal growth and was really likable.  Ashley on the other hand didn’t have as much growth until the very last minute. Her character was stuck on pasts grievances and her own self pitying. She wanted second century‘s beliefs  and customs to fit her twenty first century thinking. I think more of a give and take was necessary. Once I was a few chapters in, the book flew by. It was over before I was ready. I do hope there is more to this series. This is the first thing I’ve read from this author, but I plan to check if she has more out there.

Decorate a wool tote bag by precision quilting tools

This tote is supreme.  It came packaged really well. There was clear instructions, and three sample images that you can use. I wasn’t too fond of the styles. This tote has a dressy feel to me, so I wanted something a little different. I have plenty of dies, so I brought out my Sizzix, and decided to make a bow tie, using my French bow die. I used pretty blue green felt for the bow. The black rectangle measures about 8x6 and was really easy to work with. Sewing the rectangle on the tote was the hardest part due to the thickness of the wool and pocket placement in the lining. I tried hand sewing, but found it too difficult to get nice stitches, and getting enough of the grey without going through to the lining. So I pinned the rectangle in place, and brainstormed. I wanted a polished look to match the rest of the bag. So I was debating on gluing or using a appliqué fusing sheet. I decided to go with hot glue, after I tested a small area in the middle. It worked brilliantly. So I hot glued the rest to finish my bag. The quality of the bag is really sturdy and nice. The handles are smooth and are comfortable on my shoulder. There is a good amount of pockets on the inside, two open pockets and a zip pocket. There was no overtly wooly smell to the wool. I am very pleased with the final results.

Unstoppable by Sheridan Anne 5 stars

This is book seven in the series, if you haven’t read the first six, stop and go read them now. We follow Tully and Rivers in this one. Noah and Henley’s big day is finally here. Rivers after having taken off last book with a glance back, has returned to claim what’s his. A few things stand in the way. Like the fact Tully is with Spencer, and she was so hurt by Rivers. I was really rooting for them, but was worried for Spencer. He has came along way from book one. I thought he did deserve a happy ending too. I’m hoping maybe there will be a spin off just for Spence. This series is one of my all time favs. The writing style is awesome, easy to follow. The characters have depth and growth. Loved this one, but sad to see that’s its the last book in the series. I need more.

Rock f*ck club #5 by Michelle Mankin 5 stars

This is the fifth book in the series. The first two cover Raven’s story. The third and fourth cover Marsha. In this installment we get to know Josephine, or Jo as her friends call her. So much happened in this book, and so much was revealed, I have to be careful not to give out spoilers. I really thought from the start the theme of the book was going to go a different way. Jo seemed really only into the one nighters, and didn’t want to attach herself with a relationship. But you know how it goes, as Jo works through her past and grief, her heart and possibilities open her to things she never felt or thought was possible before. Some very tragic things happen, and you will need a few tissues to work through reading it. With the way the book left off, I am not sure if the next book will follow the path as previous books and still be about Jo. I got the feeling that her story wrapped up, nicely if I might add. There are some things left unknown. Like will there be a sixth book, who it may be. I hope there will be more. If you are just looking at the series, I think you will need to start from book one. You could read this as a standalone, but things would be better if you followed from the start of Rock F*ck  Club with Raven.

Wool pressing pad by Precision quilting tools 13.5 x 13.5

At first I had a bit of trouble with the mat leaving a weird black stuff on my fabric. I messaged customer support about it. They replied very quickly and helped me problem solve. I needed the wool setting on my iron, not the cotton setting I was using. I think this mat really makes a difference in my pressing. And their service is top notch. Recommend 100%.
